Galaxy Note 7 has been banned from several airlines globally following reports of the devices catching fire, even though production for the device has formally ended. According to an AP report, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said there were 96 reports of batteries in Note 7 phones overheating in the country. Samsung said it received 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage associated with the phones.

The Korean smartphone giant said the recall of Note 7 will cost the company close to $5.3 billion in the current and coming quarters. Let us take a look at the list of all airlines globally that have banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7:

Reuters quoted US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx as saying, “We recognize that banning these phones from airlines will inconvenience some passengers, but the safety of all those aboard an aircraft must take priority.” According to the US department, anyone who tries to take the Note 7 on will stopped from boarding the flight given the safety concerns.

Vistara

In India, Vistara is one of the first airlines to have issued an official ban on carrying of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on its aircraft, including in the check-in baggage. This ban comes after the earlier warnings were revoked for the replacement Note 7 phones which were thought to be safe. Sadly that didn’t hold true.

“Carriage of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones is prohibited on Vistara flights, both in hand luggage and check-in luggage,” Vistara said in a tweet. However, the DGCA in India is yet to issue a formal ban on the Galaxy Note 7.
